Celia Zisman, LCSW, LCADC, PMH-C
When you love your job, it never feels like work. I wholeheartedly love helping people through the various challenges that they will inevitably face in life. I guide and support them through difficult life stressors or transitions, and walk with them through more chronic or life-long mental health conditions and concerns.
I consider myself an expert in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Phobic Disorders, Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADS), Bipolar Disorders, and Eating Disorders including body image issues. I am highly skilled in working with anxiety, depression, couples, and interpersonal dynamics. I have licensure/certifications in the treatment of substance use disorders, phase I Brain Spotting, and PMADS. Additionally, I have significant training/certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cinema Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
I grew up in San Francisco, CA, and completed my BA in Psychology at Wake Forest University. I spent two years in the Peace Corps in Bulgaria raising awareness and resources to prevent human trafficking and providing support to those who lost family members to trafficking. While there, I completed several grants to improve the small village where I lived, and I provided education regarding sexually transmitted infections and the impact of substance abuse. I returned to The States in 2006 and worked in International Education until beginning my MA in cognitive neuroscience, then I achieved an MSW in Social Work. I completed internships in agencies that focused on eating disorders and prisoner re-entry before my licensure.
I love to utilize my knowledge of neuroscience to paint an in-depth picture of mental health and how it manifests in the brain. I combine gentle, challenging humor and warmth with my clients to support them as they work through their treatment goals. I bring my unique personality into my work and like to be authentic in my relationships with clients. I want my clients to feel heard and to feel comfortable so I will often give opportunities for feedback as our relationship grows.
Call, text, or email and I would be happy to engage in a brief, free consultation to see if we may be a good fit. With support, we can get you to your best life!
